Baggy Balloon

Balloons and plastic bags are a major problem for marine life. To many marine creatures, they appear to be jellyfish, so are eaten. The creature is unable to digest or eject the plastic, so finds itself unable to eat and it starves to death.

This problem affects life all around the oceans, not just under the waves but also around coastlines. It affects all kinds of life, including birds and land animals.

While most modern plastic bags and balloons are biodegradable, this process takes some five years. Not many creatures can go hungry for that long.
